Twelve months after opening its’ first branch on St-Paul in the heart of the Old Port, Slice + Soda continues to grow. This Quebec concept featuring pizza slices from the Brooklyn district is soon expanding to the Main.
Slice + Soda sets itself apart from other pizzerias in town by serving only slices just like in Brooklyn. Each branch is inspired by the Italian-American culture specific to this district of New York and offers a dozen flavors of pizza artisanal. There are nearly 10 types of natural soda made on-site, with 100% natural and Quebec sugar. Montrealers quickly, adopted to Slice + Soda, with each of its counters exploding in style and fine grocery store products.
By the end of the month, there will be a new Slice + Soda in the heart of the Main, between Old Europe and the Libreria Espanola. For the creators of the concept, it was essential to settle in this legendary corner of the Metropolis and give it a decor with the specific characteristics of boulevard St-Laurent.
Despite the pandemic that is hitting the restaurant industry, Slice + Soda has opened three establishments (Old Montreal, Mile-End, and Ste-Catherine Street West). What is the recipe? Slice + Soda is a Covid-19 adapted company; that is to say, it provides fast street-food limiting the time of presence of customers, with a delivery service, and a menu intended for outdoor consumption without dining.
We asked the owner, Brahms Yaiche what advice he has to give to restaurants facing hard times:
Being in the same situation, we have other restaurants in our group that are closed right now, only using the delivery system to survive, I can only say to hold on, it’s a hard time and we will shortly be back in business.
