Celebrating Montreal Businesses, Entrepreneurs and Influencers: Marjorie Lamarre

There are so many incredible entrepreneurs, actors, and media personalities in the Black Community that are not showcased on mainstream media because of the lack of diversity on television. A few years ago, Marjorie Lamarre came up with a solution to giving space to the Black Community with Montreal Black Stars. Ever-present at all major events, you can see her her team working tirelessly to showcase those who contribute to Montreal in ways not seen on television.

Petrona: What is your official title?

Marjorie: Content Creator, lifestyle photographer, co-founder of Montreal Blackstars.

Petrona: What is your greatest passion? Did that fuel you to get started?

Marjorie: I always had a passion for art, culture, music, and communication. I have a curiosity about others; I like knowing what drives them to do what they do, and I realized even within my own community there were so many people doing great things but mainstream and local media would not talk about it. So Montreal Blackstars came out of the passion of wanting to showcase the Black Stars within the Black Community.

Petrona: What is the message you wish to convey to the world? In other words, how do you want to be remembered?

Marjorie: I want to be remembered as someone who loves to see people succeed in what they are passionate about.

Petrona: Describe your business, service, or mission.

Marjorie: Our mission is to share and promote Montreal Black excellence in art, business, fashion, culture, and music.

Petrona: What is your biggest quirk?

Marjorie: I attach some memories to fragrances, so when I smell a particular scent it automatically reminds of a specific time.

Petrona: What has been your biggest challenge in business?

Marjorie: Making sure people understand we’re here to bring value to their brand and by investing in us they are actually investing in them.

Petrona: What’s next for your business or for you?

Marjorie: We’re currently working on different ideas I’ve been blessed to be surrounded by a team that is as passionate and creative, so definitely follow us to see what’s coming up next

Petrona: What advice would you give to someone reading this?

Marjorie: Don’t wait until you have everything right, if you have an idea or a dream, start with what you have.

Petrona: Your favorite quote. :

If you can’t figure out your purpose, figure out your passion. For your passion will lead you right into your purpose. ― T.D. Jakes
