Celebrating Montreal Businesses, Entrepreneurs and Influencers: Cherizar Walker

I cannot remember how I became friends with Cherizar Walker. I remember my friend Candice was attending an event like dinner and told me to get dressed, we are going. I personally did not want to go. I am such a homebody, especially in the winter. But she messaged me again and was like, I bought you a ticket. When she said that, I knew something or someone special was waiting there for me. It was Cherizar.

Here is her story.

Petrona: What is your official title?

Cherizar: I am an intuitive writer and healer. (I have many more titles, but I’ll keep it short.)

Petrona: What is your greatest passion? Did that fuel you to get started?

Cherizar: Wow! What comes to mind is a passion for problem-solving. It’s unexpected for me to say that but I realize that it starts here. My earlier passions were in mathematics, engineering, and then philosophy. My development in these more scientific pursuits is ultimately what led me to my pursuit of writing as a form of healing. This labyrinth of my journey is a problem that I solved by following my intuition into the unknown. The problem for me is how do I do it all? How do I embody both a scientific and creative perspective? A rational and spiritual one? And so, what I do now is essentially the embodiment of all of these dualities. How I live my life is to see things in this way, and it has become the most potent fuel in my ardent pursuit of balance.

Petrona: What is the message you wish to convey to the world? In other words, how do you want to be remembered?

Cherizar: I have realized that our journeys actually begin with death and end with life. My many deaths and rebirths have taught me that our greatest strength is found through our greatest pain. So, to resist and avoid and escape that of which is true reality is our ultimate peril. We must accept and allow life to take place in all its beautiful forms. Only then do we realize that we are mediums for the expression of the Creator. And because of this, we are magical, and powerful, and beautiful, and loving, and strong; and the embodiment of Love. This is how I will be remembered for living my life, and it is the message I wish to share with the world.

Petrona: Describe your business, service, or mission.

My current mission is to study the indigenous healing practices of the world, in order to write a book about my experiences of learning the most powerful, and most simple daily rituals to integrate into our lifestyle choices. It is these rituals, these teachings, these messages, that I share, that will help us to co-create the sustainable future we are meant to create. I have recently become the co-owner of Temple KÀ, a holistic health, and energy healing space. My partners and I were brought together to facilitate healing experiences, and we leveled up during the pandemic to join our gifts in creating a space for the community.

Petrona: What is your biggest quirk?

Cherizar: I talk to myself relentlessly. It is why I’m so smart.

Petrona: What has been your biggest challenge in business?

Cherizar: Starting.

Petrona: What’s next for your business or for you?

Cherizar: All of you beautiful people reading this will just have to wait and see.

Petrona: What advice would you give to someone reading this?

Cherizar: Do the grueling, inner healing work, so that your heart can give you the best advice.

Petrona: What is your favorite quote?

“In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer.

And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there’s something stronger – something better, pushing right back.”

– Albert Camus
